Rosemary J. Durban, 86 yrs, of Petersburg, died Sunday, August 16, at The University of Toledo Medical Center, where she had been for one week. According to her wishes, her body was donated to the Department of Neurosciences at the Medical Center.
Born April 1, 1923, in Toledo, she was the daughter of August and Marie (Barett) Maire. She married Peter J. Durban August 18, 1951 in Genoa, OH. They celebrated 57 years together before his passing on September 1, 2008.The couple had resided in Petersburg where she worked for the Rural Polish and Buffing Co. Her life was her husband and children, she loved the farm life and loved to cook. Her cookie jar was always full of fresh made cookies.
Rosemary is survived by: five children, Diana (Pat) Burke, of Leesburg, FL, Tom (Janie) Durban, Ida (Woody) Dailey, Pat Townsend, all of Petersburg, Tim Durban, of Pt. Charlotte, FL; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Ruth) Maire, of Pt. Clinton, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Marie Maire, her husband, Peter, a son, Peter John, two sisters, Ida Reed and Kate Lawson, and a brother, Louis.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, August 29, 2009, from 10 AM until a Memorial Mass at 11 AM, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 222 Carey St, Deerfield. Fr. Jack Loughran will officiate.
Memorial contributions for Mrs. Durban may be made to: St. Alphonsus Building Fund, or the Summerfield Twp. Volunteer Fire Department.
