Stuart "Stu" Russell Deland, 81 yrs, of Ida, died Wednesday, December 2nd.  Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Sunday from 1-9 PM, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 P.M. He will lie in state at St. Joseph's Church, Ida, Monday from 10 AM until The Mass of Resurection at 11 AM. Rev. Dr. Michael A. Woroniewicz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ida.

Born October 1, 1928, in Rollin Twp, MI, he was the son of Floyd E. and Moselle (Leib) Deland. A veteran, Stu served with the US Army from 1950 to 1952, and continued serving in the US Army Reserve until 1956. He married Mary A. Flory May 30, 1953, in St. John's Catholic Church, Monroe. Mr. Deland was the former owner of Milo's Meat Market, in Toledo, for 22 yrs, retiring in 1992. Stu was a member of St. Joseph's Church and one of it's ushers, the Knights of Columbus, Ida and Dundee, and a life member of the Lynn C. Weeman, American Legion Post 514.

Survivors in include: his wife, Mary; sons, Paul (Diana), of Ottawa Lake, Stephen, of Ida, Eric (Amy), of Lima, OH, Gregory (Nancy), of Milford, MI, Douglas (Gwendolyn) of Lambertville; daughters, Patricia Deland, of Temperance, Janice (George) Rye, Martha (Robert) O'Donnell, Melissa (Jeffrey) Hier, all of Ida; a brother, Orrin Deland, of CA; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Willard, Garth, and Eugene.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in the form of Masses.
