Harry Edward Brannan, 80 yrs, of Ida, formerly of Toledo, died Friday, October 30th at Toledo Hospital after suffering a stroke. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Tuesday from 11 AM until 9 PM, with a Rosary Service at 6 PM. He will lie in state at St. Joseph's Church, Ida, Wednesday from 10 AM until the Mass of Resurrection at 11 AM. Fr. Robert Bauer will officiate. Burial will be in Lulu Cemetery. Graveside services will be under the auspices of Lynn C. Weeman American Legion Post 514.
Harry was born March 12, 1929, in Toledo, the son of Elgin "Mac" and Luella (Creegan) Brannan. A Toledo Central Catholic High School Graduate, he was a Korean War Veteran serving with the US Army. Harry and Doris Siprelle were married June 6, 1953, in Starke, FL. Mr. Brannan was an Ad Salesman, employed by the Toledo Blade for 47 yrs, retiring in 1993. A member of St. Joseph Church, Ida, for 38 yrs, he served as an usher, lector, and Eucharistic minister for many of those years. He also was St. Joseph Cemetery sexton for a few years. Harry was an avid member of Knights of Columbus, Fr. Bauer Council 8698.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Harry is survived by: his wife, Doris; six sons, Steve, of Ida, Tom, of CA, Hal (Laurie) of Ann Arbor, Mark (Tonya) of NC, Dan (Lisa), of CA, Matthew (Debbie), of Ida; three daughters, Mary Lu (David) Woelmer, of Carleton, Patty (Rick) Keese and Sue (Wes) Hanson, both of Ida; grandchildren, who loved him dearly as their Papa, Christopher (Shalena) Brannan, Beth (Chris) Grindle, Alexis, Andrew and Charlotte Brannan, Lee, Doug, Kate and Jill Woelmer, Jimmy McMonagle, Charlie Keesse, Jeff and Brad Hanson, and Lucas Brannan; and great-grandson, Tristan Grindle. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Mickey, Larry, and Donald, and a sister Ann. Harry will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions for Mr. Brannan may be made in the form of Masses for him, or to the St. Joseph Cemetery Maintenance Fund.
