Ruth E. Doughty, 89 yrs, of Petersburg, died Monday night at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Thursday from 2-8 PM. Services will be at the funeral home Friday at 11 AM. Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Kenney, of St. Paul United Church in Christ, Saline, MI, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg.

 

Ruth was born April 1, 1919, in Dundee, to Albert F. and Goldie M. (Ford) Knack. A 1937 Dundee High School Graduate, she married Warren Doughty July 20, 1940, in Dundee. He died April 17, 2002. She worked at the Farmer's Market for 60 years, selling rag rugs, honey, jellies and jams. A life long rug weaver, she also worked as a telephone operator in Dundee from 1937-1940, the Ida Canning Factory in the 1950's, and the Cadillac Plastic Co. for five years. She retired in 2005. An avid reader, Ruth loved dancing in her youth, crossword puzzles, and raising her seven children.

 

Surviving are: four sons, David (Bella), of Alta Loma, CA, Randolph, Stephen (Lori), Mark (Marjorie), all of Petersburg; three daughters, Brenda (Kenneth) Milks, of Clio, MI, Ann (Donald) Link, Corrine (Jeffery) Gorr, both of Monroe; three sisters, Carol (Leroy) Perry, of Petersburg, Bonnie (Paul) Bower, of Ida, Janice Knack, of Monroe; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and three brothers, Robert, Elwood, and Marion Knack.

 

Memorial contributions for Mrs. Doughty may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
