Chad Joseph Balogh, 30 yrs, of Petersburg, died Wednesday morning due to a vehicular accident. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 12-9 PM. He will lie state at the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, Monday from 1:30 PM until services at 2:30 PM. Rev. Roy Sutherland and Rev. John Riley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ida.
Born December 30, 1977, in Monroe, he was the son of Paul and Diane (Rigel) Balogh. A 1997 Dundee High School Graduate, Chad served with the U.S. Marine Corp from 1997 to 2001. He participated in Operation Allied Force (Kosovo Conflict) and Operation Desert Fox (Iraq Conflict).
After serving in the US Marines, Chad attended and graduated from the Pan Am Flight Academy in Fort Pierce FL. Chad's qualifications included: Airplane Single, Multi-engine Land Instrument Rated Commercial Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument Flight Instructor, and Instrument
Ground Instructor. Currently Chad was attending Eastern Michigan University, majoring in Aviation Management Technology. He was scheduled to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in December. Chad was employed as a Dock Manager for the Tile Shop in Ottawa Lake for three years. He was a member of Beacon Baptist Church in Taylor.
Survivors include: a son, Austin, of Britton, MI; his father, Paul Balogh, of Petersburg; his mother, Diane Leduc, of Ida; grandparents, Richard and Marlene Rigel, of Petersburg; sisters, Shannon Terra Balogh, of Petersburg, Crystal Amber Balogh, of Ida; nephews, Dakota Lee Blake and Michael Balogh. He was preceded in death by grandparents Paul and Rosemary Balogh and an uncle, David Opferman.
